But some part of the year you have to work in order to save for the next Christmas trip. These trips can take you to Western Samoa or into the jungle of Burma, to the far off land New Zealand or to Bali and sometimes even to Japan and Hawaii. Not to talk of Atitlan in Guatemala or to Saigon, Vietnam where a haircut can be extremely expensive.

The area is best known for its beaches, which face both the Caribbean and Atlantic Seas, and it has been a popular tourist destination since the 70s. We stayed at the all inclusive Barcelo Resort in which housed three different hotels along the beach. The weather there was great, tennis courts, 18 hole golf-course and tons of water-sports activities. Five different restaurants to choose from, all inclusive.
