I was born in northern Norway where the sun shines twenty-four hours a day in the summer and its dark twenty-four hours a day from December 10th until January 23rd. When the sun finally returned at the end of January we had what we called the Sun Day. The whole school marched together to the top of the hill to see the sunrise and then they gave us the rest of the day free. These things you remember. At the age of 21 I headed for Oslo to study at the University of Oslo.
