Statue of Sri Chinmoy in Mazatlan, Mexico

A first for the Americas, the city of Mazatlan inaugurated “The Sri Chinmoy Peace Monument” in the heart of their beautiful tourist centre at a peace park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The park was specially created as a permanent home for the bronze 2-metre statue of world harmony leader Sri Chinmoy holding the Peace Torch from the World Harmony Run which he founded in 1987. Sculpted by London artist Kaivalya P. Torpy, the unique statue was cast in the Czech Republic and unveiled during a large public event by Mayor Jorge Abel Lopez Sanchez along with the sculptor. “It is an honour for the City of Mazatlan,” stated Mayor Lopez Sanchez, “to have this statue with us of such an important person as Sri Chinmoy, with his worldwide service for peace for humanity. He is a symbol of harmony, love, fraternity and integrity. Especially in this time of great need for love throughout the world, Sri Chinmoy worked tirelessly for the solidarity of all humanity.”
