Statue of Sri Chinmoy in Oslo, Norway

Many people get statues while still walking the earth; for example in Oslo we have statues of the famous runner Grete Waitz, of our great actress Wenche Foss and the living violin legend Arve Tellefsen. When Sri Chinmoy was walking the earth some people wanted to set up a statue of Sri Chinmoy. Sri Chinmoy´s sister Lily did not want any statue of him while still walking the earth. It so happened that a little more than a year after Sri Chinmoy´s passing we unveiled a full size statue of Sri Chinmoy at the Port of Aker Brygge in Oslo. The Statue was unveiled at a ceremony during the World Harmony Interfaith Walk on his sister Lily´s birthday, October 27th, 2008. Three more statues has been installed since the Oslo Statue of Sri Chinmoy. One in Bali, Indonesia, one in Praque, Czech Republic and the latest in Mazatlan, Mexico. See them all here.
